It was Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud which inspired me to incorporate dancing into my music video. Despite the difference in genres, I feel like I could adapt Sheeran's style into my own to match my genre. This video captures dancing eye-catchingly beautifully.
The song I have chosen has a roughly 20 second interval where I aim to include a dance. I have taken to Youtube to find a simple yet memorable dance that I can easily teach to my actors. The video below shows some dance lifts which I think fit well with my genre. Obviously, it is crucial to be aware to keep the choreography realistic and to discuss it with my actors. The thing I like best in this video is the transition between each lift - it is simple and doable yet upbeat and engaging, eg. from 00:20-00:27, and 00:52-00:59.
Following this, I discovered that there were a lot of duet dancing results under the search 'swing dancing'. This video is a short film/music video which incorporates swing dancing into the narrative. The moves are very simple and fit my genre very well.
This video has a much more vintage feel to it, which fits my genre perfectly. It has cool, quirky dance moves however, while sophisticated, some look quite complex (can be simplified).
The repetitiveness in this dance is what makes it suitable for my music video, as it would be easy for my actors to learn without compromising the quality of the dance.
This video contains some good solo dance moves that I could incorporate into the frames where my actress is dancing solo.
