Organising the location

My top two locations were the Kyoto Garden and the Hampstead Heath Hill Garden and Pergola.
I decided on the latter for my music video as it is huge, tranquil and the posh Pergola really suits my genre.

I called up the council and asked what I needed to do to gain permission to shoot there. This is what the lady on the phone said to do:

- Send an email to hampstead.heath@cityoflondon.gov.uk with 'Filming or Photography Permissions' in the subject line, including dates, times, what exactly I'll be doing, the number of people, what I'll be bringing
- Have a letter from the college proving that I'm a student there and that the project is related to my studies
- A copy of public liability insurance

Additionally, my shoot has to be on a weekday during normal opening hours, as functions are held there on weekends.

Having waited a week and not received a reply, I chased up the council and the lady said she would reforward on the application with a note of urgency, as my shoot would potentially be on Monday.

The next day I received a response permitting my shoot, as long as I am willing to pay a £30 admin charge and email in the forms by Monday. Location makes a huge difference to the feel of the video and despite being expensive, I will pay the fee as it will be worth it in the end.
